Cystic Fibrosis Walk

(Me and my brother Jon at my high school graduation)

I’ve never done anything like this before, but yesterday I registered for the Great Strides walk for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in March, and I am about to begin fundraising. I know that there are a lot of charities and organizations vying for your dollar this time of year, but this is an organization that is close to my heart. It will be 7 years in January since my older brother lost his battle with Cystic Fibrosis. He was my age then, newly engaged, and had just received a brand new set of lungs from a transplant; he had a bright future in front of him that Cystic Fibrosis took away. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is responsible for many of the therapies that have been developed for people who suffer from this disease. They have raised the life expectancy for patients from elementary school age in the 1950’s to reaching into their 30’s and 40’s today. There are some very exciting things in the works, gene therapies, and other treatment, and I hope that one day this disease will have a cure. If you can donate and help me reach my goal this year, I would be very grateful. You can donate online by clicking the link below.

If you don’t mind reblogging, maybe fellow tumblrs would be able to donate. Even the littlest bit is appreciated! I am very excited about doing this to honor my brother. He was a very special person.
